This week...

We are ALMOST at the end of busy season-three more days!!!!! Three more days until we finally have our daddy/husband home again:) So I am just kicking in survival mode for these last few days as I look forward to finally having Chris around again, especially in the evenings and on the weekends!

Both kids are sick...not fun at all. Aiden stayed home from school as he had a fever yesterday and has been waking up at night with a terrible cough. Andrew seems a little better, but again, still has a terrible cough as well. I took both kids to the doctor again (we are getting to be their favorite customer with our co-pays just ringing up!) and it looks like both kids are just fighting a bad cold/virus thing going around. So we have been homebound the past two days and since we have been fever free for over 24 hours, I think we may have to take a short trip to library story time today for everyone's sanity!

I can say that this week is not my best week of parenting, but what can you do with two sick kids all day?!?!?! We have watched lots of television, read books, gone on short walks, and had lots of free play!

We are looking forward to heading south next week to see some grandparents and to see Aunt Jill on the way!!! (Although I'm not too eager for that drive all on my own...:))

These pictures are from a couple weeks ago. I haven't had time to download new ones, so enjoy!

Our Week In Review...

I'm going to be honest that I did NOT take many pictures this week-just kept forgetting to pull out the camera. We did, though, have an AWESOME week!

On Monday, we headed to our weekly music class. It's adorable and engaging-perfect for both of my boys:) It was a beautiful day, so a few of us moms headed to a park for the rest of the morning to get these kids out in the sunshine. And my boys LOVE the park!!!! After naps, we just chilled around the house enjoying some crafts and lots of playtime in the basement. After baths, the boys were digging through their books while I was working on getting us ready for our road trip on Tuesday!

Aiden headed to school on Tuesday morning while Andrew took a quick nap before we took a short errand run to AC Moore to pick up some Valentine supplies and a big frame for an awesome James Ruff print! After we picked Aiden up, we had a quick lunch and started on our way to Connecticut to see some of our friends!!!! I was hoping the boys would nap the whole time (about 1.5-2 hours), but they didn't fall asleep until we arrived in Connecticut (over halfway!). We finally made it to Connecticut to my friend Cassi's house where we were surrounded by trees and countryside:) She took us to this amazing self serve frozen yogurt place:) And then we headed back to their house for lots of playtime, delicious homemade pot roast, and an 1000 piece puzzle completed in ONE night!!! Thanks Cassi for being an awesome hostess...you will see us again:)

Thankfully, the kids did sleep through the night and we headed bright and early to Fairfield, CT where we used to live! We met a group of friend's at our old neighbor/dear friend's (Aamie) house to watch about 10 kids play, play, play while the moms caught up on life!!!! So much fun:)
At 1:45, Andrew was getting towards meltdown mode, so I loaded the boys into the car and back to NJ we headed. Both boys were asleep before we even made it on the highway! About two hours later, we arrived home and had a low-key evening around the house watching some television, unpacking, and heading to bed early!

Aiden had another preschool day on Thursday...Andrew took another morning nap (after being completely exhausted from the trip) before we headed to our morning playgroup. It was a beautiful day so I dragged the kids to the park in the afternoon for some major playtime!

When we arrived home, we had to work on some valentines for someone special! So we did a little finger pudding paint and this one was a little unsure of putting his hands in that goop...
While this one had more fun eating it...
Daddy surprised us on Friday by choosing to work from home!!!!!!!! We haven't seem him all week, thanks to busy season, so someone was very excited for his Daddy to be home and wanted to work right next to him:)
Thank goodness for Chris, we didn't stay home all day (or he may have never got anything done!). Aiden had a follow-up doctor appointment in the morning which went well before we headed to the grocery store. Dunkin Donuts+Car Cart=Two Happy Boys while I'm Rushing the Aisles to Get Groceries! We were very excited to have Chris home for dinner, even if it was just a frozen pizza!!!!

A Pinterest Night...

At the end of January, I hosted a Pinterest night for several friends to do a little crafting, eat some food, and just enjoy a fun night together:)

We made these cute Valentine burlap wreaths...
And some new coasters...
And we also made some bracelets, although I am not quite happy with how mine turned out so I am going to try again:) Along with delicious food that other people bought, I also made these awesome recipes:
Cheddar Bacon Dip- http://www.plainchicken.com/2008/07/chili-cheese-dip_22.html
Jalapeño Popper Dip- http://www.closetcooking.com/2009/03/jalapeno-popper-dip.html
And this ultimate dessert- http://www.kevinandamanda.com/whatsnew/new-recipes/ultimate-chocolate-chip-cookie-n-oreo-fudge-brownie-bar.html

I have a few other crafts that I did this month to prepare for Valentine's Day.

I'm on a little break from crafting just to catch up on some books, housework, and survive the rest of busy season:) But I'm definitely looking forward to another Pinterest night soon...

Under the Weather

Last week, this poor three year old was sick, sick, sick . Last Monday, we had a normal day...went to music class, met friends at a bouncy house, and spent the rest of the day playing like crazy around the house. I was shocked on Tuesday morning when this little boy woke up with a 103. 5 fever!!!! A quick trip to the doctor's sick hours and he was diagnosed with pneumonia and bronchiolitis. So the rest of the week was spent laying low around the house...we caught up on lots of cartoons, read many books, and started to get some cabin fever by the end of the week. Thank goodness that Aiden started to feel better and was back to his normal self by the weekend:) He is doing really well, but will be heading back to the doctor's on Friday for a follow-up appointment, hoping to get the all clear!

Park Weather in January!!!!

I have to say that I love Saturdays! And they are just a little more special during busy season because it makes me really appreciate Chris and having him around with the boys. I can tell how much Aiden misses him during the week, so it's definitely extra special to have the weekend to really enjoy Daddy. Last Saturday started out with a little sleeping in time for Mommy (although I was still up at 8 am!) before I headed off to a bag sale at the children's consignment store in town where I scored like 25 items for 10 dollars!!! A few cute shirts and mostly pants for these boys next year!!! Thank you good deal:)
Chris and I each had a little one on one time-I took Andrew for a jog in this amazing weather while Chris took Aiden to a children's matinee in town about dinosaurs. What a fun morning!
Since the weather was gorgeous in the morning, we decided that we would head to the park after naps. Once we started walking, we quickly realized that it must have dropped several degrees and getting much colder than we anticipated! But we enjoyed a short trip at the park before arriving home for a little hot chocolate and playtime around the fire for the evening!!!
