A Week of Pajamas...

We spent A LOT of time in our pajamas this week!  Between having a newborn, Aiden on Spring Break, MeMe Ruff visiting, and preparing our house for the market---there were a lot of long mornings spent at home and late afternoons bumming around the house!

We loved having my mom here for a few days and are SUPER thankful that she got some time off of work, especially because she was in the middle of her teaching session!  Although we spent lots of time around the house, I am thankful for a short trip to the mall (and Aiden was too because he loves to go to the mall with MeMe) where we had a nice lunch out and let Aiden run off his energy.  I also ventured to Target to get a few necessary items, such as bread/fruit/Easter basket fillers!

My mom left on Wednesday!  I headed out on Thursday for my first play date with three kids where my friend hosted an Easter egg hunt.  The kids had a blast and baby Abby slept through almost the entire play date!  Friday, Chris and I braved out towards the Liberty Science Center with ALL three kids AND out to lunch back in our old stomping ground of Jersey City.  Again, the kids were FANTASTIC---and meltdowns didn't occur until late afternoon due to no naps, but resulted in an early bedtime and a quiet night for Chris, me, and Abby!

We are looking forward to celebrating Easter with some great friends tomorrow and are working like crazy to get this house ready to go on the market hopefully this week!!!!

And wish me luck on Monday---Chris heads back to work and I will be flying solo with all three kiddos!

Now for some "pajama shots" to share with you...

Sweet and Simple Weekends!

Last weekend was a sweet, joy filled weekend.  Saturday morning started with the arrival of Uncle Nate.  We love Uncle Nate around here and after taking care of our boys while little sister Abby was born, he was anxious to finally meet baby girl!  And yes, he was fully rested after spending a full 24 hours with our wild, energetic kiddos.  He arrived early Saturday morning on the train out from NYC.  Shortly after he arrived, we headed to the airport to pick up my mom!!!!!!  All of us were so excited to have MeMe Ruff back at our house and you know she was excited to spend time with her precious grandsons and new baby granddaughter:):):)

We spent the weekend just relaxing around the house, soaking up our time with our little family and extended family.  Weekends like this are pretty low-key, but make you appreciate the everyday moments in life...

Five Days In...

As a family of five and loving every minute!

First, I know that the grandparents are itching for a few photos of sweet baby Abby...

And I just LOVE LOVE LOVE watching the boys with baby Abby?!?!  They are SO good with her...

It's really been a great week and I am just thankful for three sweet and joyful children!  Thursday, Aiden headed to school.  After drop off, Chris took Andrew to the store for a few necessary items before just coming home for some quiet play time around the house (If you know Aiden at all, there is NO quiet play time when he is around!).  I invited Courtney over in the afternoon to come play with her kids to give Chris a little break from being Mr. Mom and perfect timing since March Madness just started.  Between all five kids in the basement, Chris is officially thankful that he will be heading back to work in another week or two (although he has been great with the boys and loving his time at home!).

Today, we took our first family outing of five to...Barnes and Noble.  Yes it's true, Barnes and Noble is one of our kids' happy places.  Andrew loves the train table (which was just updated) and Aiden loves searching through the toys and books!  We stopped by the sub shop on the way home for a quick to-go lunch before spending the afternoon and evening just hanging around the house.

I'm so thankful to have a surprise visit from my mom tomorrow just for a short but sweet trip as she has to take a few days off of teaching to get here.  Aiden is thrilled to have her and even better, his seat has moved to the back of the van so he can't wait to sit right next to MeMe when she arrives!  No plans for when she is here just looking forward to some special time with her!

First Few Days as a Family of Five...

I'm going to try and stay up to date, but I can't promise this will continue once Chris heads back to work!  But rewind back to Sunday...

We had lined up plans with our neighbor, Courtney, to watch the kids while we had sweet baby girl.  The one weekend that they were heading out of town happened to be this past weekend.  What would be the chances?

So after heading to the gym on Sunday morning for a short work out, our family headed off to Target to get a few groceries and household items and to pick up a special treat for all at Starbucks!  We arrived home around noon and I started to feel some slight contractions, but thought NO WAY this can't be it!  Chris got the kids fed while I took a quick shower and decided to rest for a few minutes thinking that the contractions would go away.  NOPE---so we called Uncle Nate just in case and he started his venture out from the city towards our house.  Courtney and her family were on their way back home, due to arrive around four, and I got in contact with another friend that could watch the kids just in case.

The contractions were pretty close together, three to five minutes, but were not long or intense so I just couldn't figure it out.  After consulting with the doctor and remembering my short labor with Andrew, we finished packing my bag and waited for Nate to arrive!  Nate arrived shortly there after and we were off (Poor Uncle Nate, nothing like throwing him into life with our boys and let's remind everyone that he had never even changed a dirty diaper!).

We arrived at hospital in early labor in late afternoon but by 5:30, it was the real deal!  After the doctor broke my water, I went from 3 cm to 8 cm in less than 25 minutes and shortly thereafter, sweet baby Abigail arrived!

Where does the name come from?  Abigail is named after one of best childhood friends, Abby, who died of cancer.  She was a really special, optimistic, and positive addition to my life and I am so excited to be able to name my sweet girl after her.  Snow is from my Grandma---we all call her Grandma Snow (although that is not her real name), but I really wanted to honor her in Abby's name.

Our hospital stay was short and sweet!  Chris actually was back at our house a lot of the time taking care of the boys, but left them in the care of Courtney a couple times to head over and check on me and baby girl.  Nurses and doctors were great and as a mom of three, I was lucky to be left alone to savor the quiet time with my baby girl before heading home to the chaos...

Dressed and ready to go...

We headed home Tuesday morning...

On our way home, we picked up Andrew from Courtney's house where he was lucky to spend the morning at a friends' class and have a play date with FOUR girls!  I think he likes his baby sister, what do you think?

Aiden had extended lunch at school so we could get home with baby Abigail but he was SO excited to arrive home to see his baby sister.  He really really loves her so far!

We have spent lots of time at home just soaking up our new addition who loves to sleep, eat, sleep, eat, and sleep some more...

This morning, we experience life with three---trying to get Aiden to his Easter concert at school on time:  both big boys dressed and ready by 8:30 so they could head out.  Chris is playing Mr. Mom...he took the kids to the Easter concert, library story time, Aiden's Spanish class, a walk around the neighborhood, and a special Daddy/Andrew date to Home Depot!

I would have to say that we are pretty lucky to have these three sweet kiddos as our little ones...don't you think?

And so thankful to have this cutie pie join the family!

Our Week In Review...

Time is flying in the Rogers household!  Not only with a baby arriving this month, we are now in the process of getting our house ready for sale, working on logistics of moving to DC, etc, etc, etc...

We were SUPER thankful for a great visit from Chris' parents the last weekend in February!  The boys LOVED spending time with them as they haven't seen them since September and Chris and I took advantage of some extra hands around here by working on some house projects that need to be completed before this house goes up for sale.  We also spent an evening in NYC as it may be the last "date night" in the city for a LONG time with baby arriving soon and the impending move to DC!

Last Monday, Chris' parents boarded the plane to head back to the Midwest.  We spent our last day with G and G Rogers just hanging out, grabbing a nice lunch out, and saying good-byes at the airport!

Aiden headed off to school Tuesday while Andrew and I headed to the doctor for my 37 week checkup.  All looks and sounds good and I'm starting to hope this baby comes a little early (third pregnancy, you get a little tired of the whole pregnancy thing plus I would really like to start our house hunt in DC but it is all going to be planned around baby's arrival and when we are ready to head down in that direction)!

We spent our Wednesday attending our favorite story time, lunch with some friends at McDonald's, Aiden having fun at his friend's house, and playing with our beloved neighbors!  All this fun wore out the two boys AND their mommy!

Thursday, Aiden headed to school again while Andrew and I ran errands and continued to work on decluttering/cleaning/preparing the house as well as packing the bags for the hospital!

Friday, Courtney and I were hoping to head to the Liberty Science Center with all four kiddos.  We loaded in the car with a little snow coming down.  Well, we both got separated AND lost on the way there and the snow was coming down HARD a half hour into the drive, so we decided to head back towards home and have a low-key picnic in the living room and play time before naps!!

This weekend, we headed down to Princeton for the Laurie Berkner concert, lunch out with friends, and enjoying the beautiful afternoon!  And yesterday, we spent the morning in meetings with a couple different realtors and I spent the afternoon/evening in the city at the Stride Rite children's fashion show (for The Chirping Moms), definitely a new and fun experience!

I will try to stay updated as much as possible, but life is keeping us pretty busy right now!  And of course, I have to include a few cute pics of the boys...
