I know, I know---it's almost the end of November and I am just now recapping all of October. Let's just say it has been some CRAZY few weeks here....but let's start back to October 1st:
We started the month with my 30th birthday! Of course, Chris and the boys treated me well with a special dinner, a few awesome presents, and ice cream cake. And later that week, I was surprised by a group of my friends for a nice dinner out on town. A perfect way to spend my 30th!
We spent one of our first days in October wearing shorts and t-shirts (seems so long ago now) at the zoo, one of our favorite spots.
One of our favorite fall weekend activities every year is apple picking so we headed out in early October...
The second week of October we were blessed by a multi-day visit from my sister, Jill, and my nephew, Jack! Jill was working in New Jersey most of the week so while she scooted off to work, I held down the fort with the three boys. These boys had a lot of fun together and wore this mommy out...
Fridays is one of our favorite days---no school for Aiden and no planned activities, so we usually either stay low-key around the house or plan a fun outing for the day! This was a BIG outing. Courtney and I decided to venture into the city with all four kids, three and under! We loaded up the van with all four kids and drove through the tunnel into town. There is a great museum down in Soho that is perfect for little kids, so we spent the morning there before heading for a quick lunch out and jetting home before any meltdowns occurred! Surprisingly, the kids were amazing and we loved our city experience. A room full of big exercise balls may have entertained the kids most of the morning...
That weekend, Chris and I ventured down to Sesame Place for their annual Halloween activities! As much as I usually love our trips down there, this one was JAM PACKED with people and was just a little too crazy for my liking. Our kids seemed to enjoy themselves although we didn't ride many rides and pushed throughed the massive crowds.
That week was our town's annual Scarecrow Stroll! We joined forces with our friends and made this sweet rocking scarecrow to join the festivities...
And Chris blessed us with an afternoon off work, which is RARE in his many hours! We decided to take advantage and go get our pumpkins without the crowds. The boys LOVED running through the pumpkins and finding the perfect ones.
The next weekend comes and lo and behold, it's another crazy weekend! I was the co-organizer for the town's Newcomer's Annual Halloween Party for 100 people. It turned out great and I think these boys got a little excited about all the sugar...
The following week, one of best college friends flew into town for an extended weekend visit. We rarely see each other so it was great to catch up and we dodged out of here on Friday afternoon leaving Chris with the kids, while we took advantage of NO KIDS in the city with another great friend who lives there now! We went to Bring It On musical, shopped a lot, ate a lot, and just relaxed. Chris and the boys had their first boys' weekend full of movies, the park, lots of playtime, and bagels out. We came home just in time to get her on a plane before the hurricane arrived, carve some pumpkins, and...
hunker down for the storm!
So that was our October in a nutshell! The next few weeks brought Hurricane Sandy aftermath, escape to North Carolina, a visit to Grandpa Ruff's, a visit to Meme Ruff's, a trip back with Meme, and now---today, our first "routine" day in what has been almost a month! It's been a WILD month!!!!
