Happy Seven Months Abby!

Oh my goodness, I'm almost one month late but our baby girl is 7 months!

As I look back at pictures this month, I forget how much we do in a month.  In Abby's seventh month of life, we took a fun return trip back to Cranford, New Jersey to visit with our "bestie" friends!  We also enjoyed a wonderful visit from Papa Mountain (my dad), headed out to a fun fall festival in the DC area, and welcomed Grandma and Grandpa Rogers for the first time to our new temporary home!

Between all three kids moving now (seriously why do my kids move around at such young ages?!?!), I feel like all I do is chase kids, cook food, clean up, and chase kids again.  (Thanks to the television this morning while Abby naps I am taking a few minutes to catch up!)

This month:
  • Abby is a MOVER just like her brothers are.  She is crawling all around, pulling up, and even cruising around on the furniture.  I was secretly hoping for a little slug that would be content just sitting in a bouncer for their whole first year (not really, but sort of), but it didn't happen.  Another Rogers kid is on the move...
  • We have stored away the play mat, Bumbo, and bouncer chairs.  No longer do I have a little newborn (tear, tear), but this girl is turning into a baby girl.
  • This girl is all about her brothers.  She loves to watch them and all their crazy play.  She will crawl away from me right towards whatever they are doing.  The boys are pretty good with her, unless they get into something that they are doing.  We definitely have had our share of knocked down Lego towers, Matchbox cars to the mouth, and don't even think about touching Andrew's little dog lovey!
  • Abby continues to nurse with an occasional bottle.  Honestly, it's easier for me and I love those few quiet moments a day when I get to feed her.  She definitely is a distracted eater and I have to often feed her away from her brothers which isn't always easy!  She continues to explore more foods at meal times.  I used to make all my own baby food (boy was that crazy?!) because seriously buying baby food is SO much easier and not much more expensive.  Her favorite foods are sweet potatoes and some fruit mixtures.  There are so many wonderful selections nowadays for baby food, it's crazy.  Honestly--can you believe they make things mixed like spinach/pomegrante/beets or carrots/mango/rutabaga.  It's amazing what you can find!
  • I wish I could tell you that Abby slept through the night, but she is still up once during the night.  Usually, it is between 4 and 6 am and honestly it doesn't bother me much as I am so used to it.  And I do know that one day that these nights will end so I just take it one night at a time...
  • Abby is seriously the happiest little girl.  Everybody at the boys' school always ask me if she is always happy because she smiles at everyone and yes, she honestly is!  Or at least when Mommy is around---take Mommy out of the picture and she cries and cries.  We definitely have to work on separation anxiety!

We love you so so much baby girl!!!!!!!!!!

We Are Still Here!

I know I haven't posted in a long time.  Oh, life is just keeping us crazy busy.  There was Halloween.  And then we took a quick trip down to NC to visit my mom and grandma.  And then we headed back home and a couple days later, we had some of our favorite NJ friends come down for a really fun visit. And then it's back to a normal week of life which is busy:  school days, forts built on the couch, "playing school" every afternoon, and just life with three kids.

I am really going to try and slow down this holiday season and savor the fun holiday moments with these three kids who are at the peak of enjoying the magic of Christmas.  It's not easy to slow down when you have three kids (and a mind that never stops thinking like mine) but I am going to do the best I can.  Today is Friday, our only day that Aiden doesn't have school.  Somedays we head out for a fun adventure on town, but today we are just going to chill.  Do a little cleaning, enjoy a little more television than usual, and just be.

These pictures are from a recent picture taking session from this past weekend before heading to church.  There is no perfect shot in this series---have you ever tried to take a picture with a silly four year old, an unpredictable two year old, and a seven month old.  Aahh!  You be the judge, what do you think is the best shot?!?!
