Last month, we took our first family trip of the year to Blowing Rock. It's been over two years since we have managed to make a trip to my dad's so it was about time that we headed in that direction. We had a wonderful time & I wanted to share some of the highlights from the trip in the next few posts.
We arrived after a very long car ride on a Saturday night. Thankfully, we survived the car ride pretty well thanks to movies, snacks, & some sleep. It actually is a nice quiet car ride through the country and mountains compared to our usual 95 traffic that we are often on whenever we go anywhere else!
Our first day there, my dad decided to put us to the test and take us to Roan Mountain in Tennessee. The kids were actually great hikers & we had a fun time exploring nature! Andrew decided that maybe he doesn't want to be a scuba diver after all, but instead wants to be a mountain climber.

We finally made it to the top!
Daddy & the boys. Can you tell Andrew is prepared with scuba goggles and a chain?
And this one surprised us, she is quite the little hiker!

She may have gotten a few rides up the mountain :)

This is her new "smile"
We had the best surprise at the top. A big patch of berries for the kids to pick and eat. Aiden may have been in a little "slice of heaven". He ate and ate and ate and ate.
So pretty!

I love the trees in this picture, such a cool part of the hike was through this forest!
Out of all the kids that had a hard time walking down, of course it was our oldest :)
