Yesterday, Aiden had his second doctor's appointment!  The doctor was impressed  by little Aiden's development since birth.  He has grown an inch and is up to seven pounds.  We think Aiden has grown tremendously and are impressed how much he has grown into his clothes, but realized he is still a peanut when the doctor told us that he was in the 10th percentile for weight:)  

We are just enjoying our time at home with little Aiden!  With the one day of 65 degree weather, Aiden got to go on his first outing on a walk with Chris and I and the puppies!  He slept the whole time.  Chris had his first experience alone with little Aiden as I have done a couple errands with my mom to go to the grocery store and Target.  Aiden loves to sleep while his daddy has been watching all of the football games!  The dogs are still very curious around little Aiden, but are starting to get used to having him around.  Sheffield has even gave Aiden a few love licks!

Wow...I can't believe that our son is already over a week old-he has grown so much already! The coolest thing happened today-I stuck my tongue out at Aiden and he mirrored my action and stuck out his tongue back.  And not only did he do it once for his mama, but then I rushed into the living room to show Chris and he did it again!!  It was SOO neat...I can't wait to watch him grow every day:)  Of course, I have posted some more pictures of adorable Aiden!

Happy Holidays!

We wish a happy holiday season to all of our family and friends!  We wanted to update the blog with pictures of Aiden in all of his Christmas outfits-we LOVE having our Christmas baby:)  We had a fabulous holiday with my parents and my sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Tom!  It's amazing how fast the day goes with a newborn baby around.  We didn't even get to opening Christmas gifts until 9:00 last night-between eating Christmas cookies, taking care of a little one, and meeting Aunt Jill and Uncle Tom!

These are pictures from the first day or so at home!  We are so thankful to have my parents here to visit and help with little Aiden.  My mom has been a super grandma-cooking, cleaning our all of a sudden messy house, grocery shopping, and helping us coax Aiden back to sleep when we don't know what else to do.  My dad has been a super dog walker-and even was forced to carry Cobi home from a walk the other night because Cobi refuses to walk when it is SOO cold out!  We also enjoyed having Uncle Andy here-and Aiden loved being held by his uncle:)  Andy left yesterday to head back to California after spending a few fabulous days with us.  (I am sure that he is enjoying some sleep without any baby crying tonight!)  We are enjoying our Christmas Eve and will be posting some holiday pictures soon.  Happy Holidays!

On our way home from the hospital in a snowstorm-we made it safely!  Aiden enjoys the car seat so far-it's a great place to fall asleep.  As you can see Aiden is swimming in the 0-3 month coat!!

What a change the past five days have been-and we are loving every bit of it!  I am a bit behind on our blog entries but will catch up eventually.  After our last blog entry, I thought I would give a little more about information about the arrival of little Aiden Rogers!

Back to Thursday afternoon:  Officially four days overdue, I thought for sure that I was going to be a pregnant woman forever!  I was trying to be patient and trust that little Rogers will make his appearance when he was ready, but we were SOO anxious to meet him.  I went into my doctor's appointment expecting to hear there was no progress-and I was correct!  But, after looking at the ultrasound, the doctor said that there was very little amniotic fluid surrouding the baby, a condition called oligohydramnios.  So I was off to the hospital immediately to begin the induction process with a bit of gel to help things along.  We were scheduled to return back Friday morning with another round of gel and some pitocin to begin a complete induction.  We returned home and decided to enjoy ONE last dinner out before the big day!  After coming back from dinner out together, I started feeling these strange pains-hmm...could these be contractions?  So what do you think I do-call my mom at 11:30 at night for some advice.  Of course living five states away, she thought they may be contractions but recommended that if they get worse, then head back to the hospital.  Finally, at like 2 pm, Chris and I are off to the hospital (Chris had predicted that we would be heading there in the middle of the night interfering with his sleep that he loves!).  

We headed off to a labor and delivery room where the nurse determined that I was in early labor.  To help me sleep for a bit, she gave me some morphine and would check the progress through the night.  I woke up at 5 am with strong contractions and labor took off from there.  After a very painful and long morning, Aiden Rogers arrived at 1:16 p.m!!  He was determined healthy and cute as can be:)  While we were at the hospital, Connecticut was in a huge snowstorm which we enjoyed through the comfort of the hospital windows-so lucky Aiden was born with snow on the ground and Christmas less than a week away.  

We were in the hospital until Sunday morning, when we got to head home with little Aiden.  Of course, I was so anxious to head home on our own.  Thankfully, the nurses were so kind and helpful and answered my billion questions that I had before we were on the way home.  With a little help from the nurse, Aiden was in his car seat and we were off on our first car ride back to Fairfield!  Chris did a fabulous job making it home safe and sound through the awful weather and super crazy Northeast drivers.  

So I have lots more to share, but will post more details, pictures, and videos about life at home soon so check back tomorrow!  I am off to be with little Aiden:)

Welcome to the World!

Aiden Christopher Rogers was born Friday, December 19, 2008 at 1:16 p.m.

Length:  19 inches  

Weight:  6 pounds, 7 ounces

We are so very excited for our little boy to finally be here!  It is such a blessing that God brought us such a cute and healthy son-we are loving every minute of being parents (even the first night home with no sleep)!  More pictures and details will come very soon...

Happy Due Date:)

We have celebrated the due date with baby Rogers still inside the womb:(  Instead of heading to the hospital today, we kept ourselves busy with the Christmas service at church this morning and then we were off to a movie, Slumdog Millionaire, for the afternoon.  We are hoping that baby Rogers comes very, very soon!!!!  In anticipation of his arrival, we have posted some pictures of his nursery below:

Just Waiting...

Less than a week until my due date-we are just waiting for little Rogers to arrive!  Here's the 39 week festive belly picture-we are all ready for Christmas in our house:)

We got a couple inches of snow this weekend-so I took the dogs out early Sunday morning for their first romp in the snow this year:)  Here's a video of our little outing in the yard:)

Getting closer...

Yesterday, Chris and I headed to the 38 week appointment for the weekly check-in.  All continues to look good and the doctor predicts another week or two before little Rogers appears, but she said that it could be anytime now.  Chris has the thought in his head that this baby will be arriving on December 21st (a week past the due date), so when she said that it could happen anytime-his nerves have finally set in!  Although we are both nervous, we can't wait for the little boy to arrive!  I am very excited to finally be a mom and say good-bye to the big bump on the front of me.  We headed to a holiday party last night and I had the hardest time finding something to wear-as I have been living in sweatpants for the last couple weeks:)  But I know that the past nine months will all be worth it very soon!!

This week, we have a BIG thank you to my brother, Andy, for the Flip video camera that he sent us for the baby!  Now, our families and friends will still get to see little Rogers in action, even from far away.  Here's a clip that we took tonight of baby Rogers saying hello to his readers-he must be getting excited to come out soon as he has been very active tonight!
