Home Sweet Home!

We love being at home with our precious baby boy, Andrew, and our active little bug, Aiden! I wanted to share in this post about our stay at the hospital which all started on Sunday morning.

After cutting down our Christmas tree on Saturday, we waited until Sunday morning so we could decorate it together as a family. We also finished getting our house ready for the holidays and enjoyed some homemade cinnamon rolls that I made. After Aiden went down for his afternoon nap, Chris and I decided to run some errands with just the two of us since Chris' parents were here to stay back at home-a rarity! We headed to Michaels, Babies R Us, Kohls, and Target. I started to feel some contractions as we began our shopping, but wasn't sure if they were Braxton Hicks or some other random twinges. As we arrived home around 4, we decided that maybe we should head toward the hospital. We finished packing our bags and I had to convince Chris that it was okay to procrastinate putting up our outdoor Christmas lights so we could head on our way.

We arrived at the hospital around 5-5:30 pm and I definitely knew that this was it. From the moment we arrived, the labor QUICKLY progressed. By 6:45 pm, the epidural was injected and I was looking for some pain relief from the intense labor contractions. At 7:00 pm, the nurses changed shift and the new nurses quickly realized that my epidural was not working. So they called for help with the epidural as I continued through labor with LOTS of pain. Let's just say that I about bit Chris' fingers off because I was in so much pain. Finally, right before 7:30, the epidural was fixed just in time to help with the pushing (thank goodness!). By 7:30 pm, I had fully dilated, without any help from the epidural, and had to even yell at the nurse that this baby was coming. After they checked me and realized that yes, the baby was coming, they called the doctor to rush to the room. The doctor had just arrived at the building so she basically had to throw her coat aside and rush into the room. About twenty five LONG minutes later, little Andrew arrived as a healthy baby boy!!!!

Here are some pictures from the hospital stay:
